The event was organized by the members of Chemical-Biology Department from Sciences Faculty in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University from UK, Chemistry Society of Romania, Environmental Protection Agency of Maramures County, “Maramures Mountains” Natural Park, Authority for Public Health of Maramures County and with National Society for Cellular Biology of Romania (Maramures-Satu Mare division).
The conference was financially supported by The Maramures County Council, Baia Mare City Hall Maramures Commerce and Industry Chamber and sponsored by the following firms: Nitech, SC Infomedchim, SC Selmont SA, S.C. Salamandra SA, SC Romdill SA, SC Entopat SRL, SC Roasario SRL and Total Acord SRL.

Aims:
» To facilitates the meeting of the specialists and researchers from different domains (branches) of fundamental sciences and engineering (environmental sciences, chemistry, biology, food sciences and food technology) and the initiation of future projects and partnerships;
» The exchange of experience and ideas between specialists from different countries, and from different research domains ;

The scientific board was composed from professors and researchers from 9 countries: Romania, United Kingdom, Hungary, Spain, Holland, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Germany, and USA. .

The papers of the conferences were published in the Conference proceedings, ISBN 978-973-1729-39-8 in English. The conferences proceedings include 95 papers grouped in 14 currant scientific topics: environment and aviation, environment and health, environment processes modeling, environment education, chemistry and environment protection, analytical chemistry, material sciences, ecology, biodiversity conservation, applied biology, chemistry of food processing, food technology in the third millennium, biotechnology, human nutrition and food safety.
